Hello Grimmer Bears and Parents!  Here are a few online resources to help you out as we begin the 21/22 school year.  There are several sites with interactive books to read, books to hear and lots of fun activities to supplement in-person learning.

Alameda County Library:  if students have a library card, they can sign up to check-out ebooks for Kindles, iPads and and other devices via Libby (formerly Overdrive).  The service is free:

JLGDigital The Grimmer library has purchased the Junior Library Guild ebook streaming service,  Like other streaming services such as Netflix, JLG Digital features a rotating collection of titles each available for a particular amount of time (averaging 60-90 days). This means that we'll have a constantly revolving choice of books so nothing gets stale and there's always something new on our virtual shelf! 

JLG is known for offering high quality books; many of them become award winners.  They also offer several Spanish/Bi-lingual titles each month.  Books can be read from whatever device you are using to access the site.  Please check with your student's teacher for log-in information.

Audible Plenty of free books to listen to in many languages! 

International Children's Digital Library Free e-books from around the world in a variety of languages.

Unite for Literacy A nice selection of non-fiction books in English and Spanish. Click on the language button to switch to Spanish.


Information sources for reports, etc.


Britannica Encyclopedia  A great site for reports that you may be working on. Info on animals, biographies, CA missions and more! Site can be used in English or Spanish.  Join my google classroom for log-in information. All teachers have my Google classroom code.

National Geographic Kids Games, videos and information.




Fun Brain Play games while practicing math and reading.

Into the Book A reading comprehension resources that focuses on 8 research-based strategies: using prior knowledge, inferring, summarizing, visualizing, questioning, evaluating synthesizing and making connections. Activities available in English and Spanish.




Storytime from Space Picture books read by astronauts from the international space station!  How cool is that!

Storyonline Books read by famous actors, includes activities.

The Fable Cottage Videos of popular fables in Spanish.
